The Challenge: Rebuilding and Innovating After a Fire

After a fire damaged part of their Heemstede facility, P. Nelis needed to act quickly. Restoration was necessary, but they also took a forward-thinking approach. The company saw this as an opportunity to not only restore production and storage capacity but to modernize and expand it.

This led to the creation of a future-proof plan for efficient, climate-controlled flower bulb storage. Ten new storage rooms were built, with eight of them specifically designed for gas-tight ULO storage.

For successful implementation, reliable, controlled atmosphere doors and passageways were key. This is where Salco made the difference.

For this project, Salco supplied a range of doors CA doors for flower bulb storage. Each door was designed to seamlessly meet the technical needs of the storage rooms.

Gas-tight Refrigeration Sliding Doors with Inflatable Seal

For the ULO rooms, we provided four gas-tight sliding doors with inflatable seals. These doors are specifically designed for ULO and CA storage, offering 100% airtightness.

Four overhead doors were installed for general access to the production and storage areas. These doors are built for high-frequency use while maintaining a stable indoor climate.

Insulated Sliding Door Wall for Flexible Access
