ULO stands for Ultra Low Oxygen and CA for Controlled Atmosphere. In this storage method, an atmosphere is created in the gas-tight refrigeration cell with a low oxygen content (sometimes less than 1%), an increased CO2 content and a temperature and humidity level that depend on the product. This inhibits ripening, extending shelf life.
Why Salco gas-tight doors
There are two options available to seal the gas-tight doors ensuring they are completely gas-tight. In addition to doors fitted with the unique, inflatable gasket (KHG and KDG), there is also a more competitively priced version (NI) that does not use the inflatable system:
A unique inflatable gasket
Salco also offers a more cost-effective gas-tight refrigeration door (NI). This door does not use the inflatable principle. Instead, it is pressed into the double rubbers solely by the clamps.

Details of the Salco gas-tight door
The door leaf is lightweight due to the use of high-quality, seamless polyester and available in various colours. Frame and surround are completely cold-bridge-free and made of anodised aluminium. The doors are available in horizontal and vertical versions and as swing doors. As the seal at the floor is the most critical point, both versions are equipped with a special semi-circular profile (radius) in the bottom corners at the connection of the frame to the floor. No Vaseline or sealant may be used for the gas-tight seal. As a result, the cell can be opened and sealed gas-tight in seconds and everything remains clean.
Application areas of the gas-tight door
The gas-tight doors are used in:
Fruit storage, vegetable storage and fruit ripening
In CA/ULO preservation technology, an atmosphere is created with low oxygen content and high CO2 content. This allows various fruits and vegetables to be stored for months and ripened under controlled conditions.
Fire prevention
By removing oxygen from a room, the risk of fire is eliminated. This method is applied in cold stores, server rooms and museums.
Pest control
Organic pest control involves bringing oxygen levels to a level where insects are not viable. Do you have any questions or interest?
